Guided by Justin P, Mark H, and the SCGS team, the program has not only enhanced technical skills but also demonstrated the potential of STEM education to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce.

A standout feature of the SCGS robotics team’s success is its collaboration with local manufacturer Protector Aluminium. Known for their large-scale production capabilities—including their soon-to-be 20,000 sqm facility in Corbould Park, which will supply every pool fence sold by Bunnings across Australia—Protector Aluminium brought their expertise into the program.

Their contribution included the black powder-coated structure that forms the backbone of the team’s robot, giving students an invaluable opportunity to engage with professional-grade materials and processes. Collaborations like this highlight how industry partnerships can enrich STEM education by exposing students to the challenges and rewards of applied engineering and manufacturing.
